The violin Co Ke or Nhi

This two-stringed violin is the most common Vietnamese form of a model spread all over SE Asia. It is the main leading voice of all "traditional" ensembles and nowadays also a famous solo instrument. The two chords enclosure the bow which is quite usual with Asian violins. The chords are tuned in a fourth of fifth, the lower chord often functions as a drone. Other Asian models like the Chinese Erhu are popular for being played with high virtuosity.

If you want to buy an violin like this from out of your country, please keep in mind that many models cover the resonating box or gourd with snake skin which might be illegal to import...
